Bridges
to Practice Learning Disabilities Training
This training is
based on Bridges to Practice: A Research Based Guide for Literacy
Practitioners Service Adults with Learning Disabilities. There are
two distinct workshops; one for tutors and one for administrators.
Part One features
information on the characteristics of learning disabilities, legal issues,
and impact of learning disabilities in adults on policies and procedures
and operations of literacy programs. The primary audience is program
staff, board members and administrators in volunteer literacy programs.
Part Two, titled
Tools and Resources for Individualizing Curriculum-Keys to Success (TRICKS),
is for tutors. It focuses on instructional planning strategies and resources
and reviews a method the tutor and the adult learner can use to assess
and acknowledge progress.
